As part of its comprehensive research and educational efforts, the American Cancer Society recently released the 6th Edition of The Tobacco Atlas, which is a comprehensive guide to issues that relate to tobacco consumption and its health effects. Along with its companion website TobaccoAtlas.com, this publication covers the damage caused by tobacco production and use, as well as the clinical progress achieved by researchers to combat this damage.
Key findings included in The Tobacco Atlas’s 6th edition are regional statistics, such as the cost of a cigarette in comparison to cigarette consumption in different areas. The book also provides statistical links between smoking and mental illness. Furthermore, the publication summarizes the positive health effects of smoking secession from the first 20 minutes through the first year.
